Viaje a Norwich 2024

Welcome to our Norwich 2024 summer Blog

We arrived to Norwich yesterday!

We were kindly greeted by Kumi and Emily. The students were given the welcome pack and then went off to their host families.

For the next 21 days, our students will enjoy an amazing programme full of activities, excursions and social events as well as English classes.

This experience will definitely boost their confidence, independence and creativity while making friends from all corners of the globe.

By the end of the programme, the students will feel more confident communicating in English.

Stay Tuned for more uptades 😁😁😁

First day of classes and Bowling at the Hollywood Bowl

Our students experienced the first day of classes at the Flying Classrooms. They met their teachers and classmates and enjoyed playing table tennis in the backyard 😁😁

In the afternoon, we played bowling at the Norwich Hollywood Bowl. Our students had a «bowl» of a time 😂😂😂

Laser Quest and birthday celebration

Today our student Ines has turned 18 👏👏👏 We had a small celebration in the Flying Classrooms where everyone indulged in a piece of chocolate cake😋😋

Happy 18th birthday Ines 😁😁

In the afternoon, we had a thrilling experience playing laser tag with some cool movements like running, hiding, and dodging😁😁

A very entertaining afternoon😁😁

Gravity Trampoline and birthday celebration

Yesterday we had another birthday celebration 😁😁

Our student Felix turned 17 👏👏👏 We had a small celebration in the yard of the Flying Classrooms as the weather was quite nice. Another piece of yummy chocolate cake 😋😋

Today our students and other international students from the school enjoyed a trampoline activity at the Norwich Gravity Centre. A very good way to enjoy exercise and have fun 😁😁

Full day excursion to London

We have had a very busy weekend 😁😁

On Saturday we visited one of the world’s most visited cities: London😊

The city of London has something for everyone: from history and culture to fine food and exceedingly good times

We visited the most iconic parts of the city such as the Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, the London eye, the Tower of London as well as the Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and, the most famous square in London: Piccadilly Circus.

Despite the bad weather, we made the most of our visit and the students had a blast😁😁😁😁😁😁

Visit to Great Yarmouth and Pleasure Beach Fair

And today, Sunday, we have visited the coastal town of Great Yarmouth. The students were given an unlimited pass wristband which allowed them to enter the popular fair of pleasure beach and enjoy the cool rides as many times as they desired. We enjoyed rides like the Disko, the Ghost Ship, the Pendelum, the Sky Drop, the Roller Coaster and many more! 😁😁😁😁😁

A very entertaining way to finish our first full week in Norwich😎

Football match and Fish and Chips

Today we have had a very busy day😉😊😁

After the classes, we organised a football match at the University of Norwich between Spanish and Italian students versus students from Saudi Arabia😉😊

The final score was 5 to 4 for the Spaniards / Italians. The score was irrelevant as the most important thing is that all the students had a whale of a time😉😊😁

After the match, we had fish and chips at the famous Grosvenor Fish Bar of Norwich😋😋

Table Tennis tournament

Today our students had a very entertaining and sporty afternoon😉😊😁

We organised a table tennis tournament with some of the international students from the Flying Classrooms.

We had a very enjoyable afternoon hitting the ball and running to the other end of the table 😉😊😁 We certainly did our exercise for today😁😁 it was a perfect way to meet new people and interact with other students.

Our student Carlos won the competition in the end. It was not about winning anyway but about taking part and having fun😉😊😁

Some sports at Eaton Park

A pleasant and sporty afternoon was spent at Eaton Park and luckily without any rain!😉😊😁

Another football match between our students and other international students from the Flying Classrooms. Different nationalities in the battlefield: Spaniards, Italians, Saudis and British 😉😊😁

Also, some students tried the typical English game of rounders without much success 😂  😂  😂  😂

Canoeing on the River Wensum

Today we had a bit of a wet day😂😂

In the afternoon, we had a splash down the heart of Norwich. Our students paddled upstream with all their strength in the downpour of typical British weather! However, despite the rain, everyone had a laugh and rowed like mad.

Alejandro was the only one who braved a paddle board! Great job Alejandro!!! 😂😂😂

Also, he was brave enough to face the fresh cold water of the river and went diving in 😂😂😂 You rock!

A very wet and sporty afternoon!

Norwich Ghost Walk

Today our students got to see the darkest side of Norwich whilst listening to spooky stories 👻 👻 👻

The witch doctor took us on a journey through the most haunted areas of the city.

We heard tales of the many lost spirits and poltergeists who are still seen and heard to this day!

Our students Alejandro and Mateu told us some creepy stories by the way 🙂 🙂 Well done guys!

A unique set of vocabulary to boost their level of English taught through an entertaining and engaging activity 🙂  👻  👻  👻

Lord Mayor’s Procession and full day excursion to Cambridge

We had quite an eventful weekend🙂 🙂

Saturday everybody enjoyed the Lord Mayor´s Procession. The city was very lively and vibrant. The parade was really entertaining🙂 🙂

On Sunday, we visited the city of Cambridge. We had a very good time taking in the sights of the marvellous colleges that Cambridge has to offer. Some buildings are as old as the 1400s, which we found out whilst enjoying a relaxing time on the punting boats.

We managed to gain entry to Pembroke College, one of the world’s great universities, and visited its grounds.

Hopefully, the visit to Cambridge will spur these fine young students on to achieving their goals in life 🙂 🙂

Stick around for more!

Cryptic Escape Room

Yesterday was the test of the wits, who had the eye for detail, who had the brains for math and clues and who had sheer common sense!

Our students were split into 4 groups to play Escape Room 😱  😱

One team braved “The Haunted” based on a true story of a little girl called Emily. There were certainly a few screams that came from those rooms! 😱

Another team really had to put on their thinking cap as they faced “The Treasure of Green Beard”🙂 🙂

Two more teams had to enter “The Egyptian Room” and faced the Pharaoh of all Egypt, the King Akhenaten🙂 🙂

One last team had to enter “the Magic School”, sneak into Professor Bumble’s office and retrieve the broom he had confiscated from you🙂 🙂

Only one team managed to escape the rooms, but everyone made a great effort and almost completed the challenge!

Well done super teams!!!!!🙂 🙂🙂 🙂

Roller Skating at Funkys

Today, we have had a very lovely afternoon roller skating😊

There were literally some ups and downs where they tested the floor 😂 specially Carlos and Jorge🤣but they were such brilliant troops and got up with a big smile 😁

Our students had a whale of a time with the Saudis whilst exercising 😉

A very nice Tuesday afternoon skating around😉

Traditional afternoon Cream Tea

Yesterday we enjoyed a yummy snack at the Maids Head Hotel.

After so many active activities, it was such a pleasure to sit and relax and enjoy scones, tea and coffee. This is a very typical English afternoon and as you can see it went down well with all the students 😊 😊😊

A game of Rounders at Eaton Park

Today we had a very sporty afternoon at Eaton Park. It’s been a warm and sunny day in Norwich with temperatures just a little above average🌞 🌞 🌞

First game up was the typical English game of rounders. At first, some students were confusing baseball with rounders, but soon managed to get their heads around the English game.

Second game was a football match between our students and other international students from the Flying Classrooms: Spaniards, Italians, Saudis and British 😉😊😁

Some students also played the racket sport of Badminton  🎾  🎾  🎾

End of stay ceremony

So here we are, the end of an amazing three weeks with incredible adventures and memories which will last forever. It has been an amazing journey full of activities, excursions and adventures along with fantastic lessons to grow their language even more.

For the final ceremony, we all went to the backyard area where Emma and all the teachers gave us a warming farewell😉😊😁

We were joined by all the other international students studying at Flying Classrooms and with whom our students have formed a strong bond, especially with the students from Saudi Arabia. They are amazing kids, very charismatic and jolly. Our stay would not have been the same without them. They have brought so much joy and happiness. We will miss you guys😭😭😭

Each student was given an end of course certificate with a warming farewell by the teachers, staff and other international students from the Flying Classrooms Study Centre.

Our students Adrian, Mateu and Carlos gave a very heartfelt speech to thank every member of the staff for the help and support and for growing their English in a fun and engaging way. Well done guys! 😉😊😁

Never say goodbye…say, good journey and see you soon😊
